Patchwork is delighted to welcome Jonathan Freeman to provide leadership to the Foundation at this exciting period of development for our work.  As Patchwork celebrates its 5th anniversary, Jonathan joins us as Chief Strategy Officer to oversee the strategic development and impact of our important work to promote and encourage the positive integration of under-represented, deprived and minority communities into British political and civic society.

Jonathan joins us from Mosaic, HRH The Prince of Wales’ mentoring charitable initiative, with which he has been involved from its very earliest days and which he led as Managing Director for last six years.  Having overseen the successful move in July 2016 of Mosaic in to The Prince’s Trust and ensuring it is well-placed to grow in the future, we are delighted to be able to count upon Jonathan’s talents to support similar growth at Patchwork.  Jonathan also knows Patchwork well, having served on its National Advisory Board since launch.

 Jonathan said

“This is a tremendously exciting new opportunity.  We live in very interesting political times in which it is more important than ever that every group in society feels that they can contribute to our political system and to the well-being of our society more generally.  Patchwork is a remarkable organisation that has achieved so much in its first five years and I am honoured to have this opportunity to build on these strong foundations.”

Sir Martyn Lewis, Patchwork Patron, said

“I am delighted that Jonathan will be joining Patchwork to oversee the next stage of our exciting development.  To have attracted a leader of this capacity, with such a strong commitment to social justice and a great track record, demonstrates the importance of the Foundation’s work.”

Jonathan’s key priorities will be:

  • to ensure that Patchwork’s unique set of programmes grow in scale and impact;
  • to put Patchwork on a sustainable long-term footing for the future;
  • to work towards the Foundation’s registration with the Charity Commission;
  • to develop a new mentoring programme to augment the long-term value of Patchwork’s existing programmes; and,
  • to provide support to the existing Patchwork staff team, inspiring their leadership potential for the Foundation’s future success.

In addition to this exciting new role, Jonathan will retain his role as Senior Mentoring Adviser to the Careers & Enterprise Company.
